You’re Halfway… Now Let’s “Start Over”

This weekend I spent some time with some very special girlfriends.  Over dinner Saturday night we talked about the last year….My friend knows clearly what it means to be “starting over”

She made the choice years ago to start her own life, She started her own business, purchased her own house, and began to learn to travel with her friends, and on her own.  She was doing well.  Her attitude was one with determination and seeing the goodness.  She even started dating some great guys.

Last year, she received a diagnosis of thyroid cancer.  She assessed everything. It was a long road ahead of her. She reached out. She protected herself from negative input from people and she suited up for the journey. Why do I share this?  Because ….it was the power in the steps, the attitude, the meditation, and a knowing.  She followed the steps needed for the next months ahead of her. She made it through. We celebrated her journey and her attitude. Her passion for her wellness and being in action to stay in her state of wellness.

I see it everywhere...attitude.  Thoughts.  Conversations. They all seem to have different attitudes and approach’s to this year. One friend couldn’t care less nor seemed bothered by all the fuss and viewed this time of year as any other. However other woman friend showed up on the total opposite end of the spectrum.  You may have taken a lot of time to analyze her family and personal finances, and was talking about how much she spent unconsciously on things that didn’t hold much value for you now in this time..yet  realize may be  missing out come the end of the year.

It is so important to follow some starting over steps. To learn how to set some specific boundaries. Boundaries that make a difference with your subconscious, and assist when choosing the people around you and the steps you take going forward…

And then there is the other friend  who is feeling so overwhelmed that she may have days of feeling   frozen in fear and even fearful of  going back to work today. These women are so overwhelmed by feeling sluggish and unmotivated, dreading going back to real life after the “shut in time”.

It would be easy  for me to sit there and judge these women or think 1 of them was right and the others wrong, but instead I asked myself exactly what I’m going to ask you,

Can you see yourself in any of these women?

Look back at last year,  were there things you feel like you missed out on because you were busy procrastinating? Was there something you couldn’t afford because you spent your money in areas you weren’t purposefully spending in?

If so, do things differently this  half of the year!

Step up and make conscious decisions about where you’re spending your time, energy & money for the rest of this year...

So that you can spend it doing the things you really truly want to do with the people you love.

Now let me ask you, if you’re feeling the fear that the last example, if you’re hating your job, dreading going to work, wishing a relationship would just drop off a cliff so you wouldn’t have to deal with it anymore, if you’re feeling sluggish, living for Friday…

What can you do to make your job/life bring you joy?

What can you do to make each and every day a celebration?

Is there a way you can make that relationship more fun,  communicative & fulfilling?

What choices can you make to bring yourself into a place of happiness every day?

Here are a few things to try:

  • A morning routine doing something you absolutely love before work.

  • Fun conversation starters to help spice up the conversation at your dinner table with your partner and family (we love TableTopics).

  • Get your exercise with your best friend or doing something you love, not just hitting the gym because that’s what you’re told will make you healthy.

  • Tell your boss about something you would absolutely love to do at work.

  • If you run your own business, identify what you love doing and find a way to do it more or bring that into your work?

  • Plan a special girls-night-out (or in) with your best girlfriends once a month.

  • Take the passions test with me to see if you should actually be looking at some new area in your work, or starting your own side gig, or your own business.
